Provenance

The Meteoritical Bulletin records that Gyarub Zangbo was found in October 2020 by G. Tulga during exploration of the uninhabited Qiangtang region of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, northeast of the Gyarub Zangbo river in Xizang, China. Many disaggregated fragments of olivine and metal were recovered together with a larger metal-rich mass nearby. All of the material was purchased by Ziyao Wang in October and November 2020, and the Bulletin records the main mass as being with him. The working names recorded in the Bulletin are WZY-01 and WZY-10.

This slice was acquired by Treasure Coast Meteorite Co. It is not the main mass and is not the type specimen. The polished faces carry a thin protective epoxy, applied to stabilize the olivine and slow oxidation, which is standard practice for pallasite preservation and is disclosed here as a treatment.

Olivine distribution and cut faces are individual to each slice, so a specimen can be compared directly against these images and weighed against the figure recorded here to two decimal places.
