Provenance

Muonionalusta was first found in 1906 in Norrbotten, Sweden. Further masses were recovered over the following decades, including a specimen of about 15 kg found during earthwork in August 1946 roughly 8 km east-southeast of the original find, and a 6.20 kg mass found in June 1963 by Carl Henriksson in excavated material used to build a causeway, now held by the Swedish Museum of Natural History. The meteorite is documented in Buchwald's Handbook of Iron Meteorites (1975). This 245.82 gram etched slice was acquired by Treasure Coast Meteorite Co. and offered as a classified specimen.
