Provenance

Gyarub Zangbo was found in October 2020 by G. Tulga during exploration on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, in the Qiangtang uninhabited area northeast of the Gyarub Zangbo river in Xizang, China. Many disaggregated olivine and metal fragments were recovered along with a larger metal-rich specimen nearby. All of the material was purchased by Ziyao Wang in October and November 2020, and the Meteoritical Bulletin records the main mass as held by Ziyao Wang. It was classified by A. Irving at the University of Washington and P. Carpenter at Washington University in St. Louis, and reclassified as an ungrouped pallasite in MB 114 following further mineral, trace element and oxygen isotope work. This 86.11 gram slice was acquired by Treasure Coast Meteorite Co. and offered as a classified specimen.
