Laâyoune 002 was found in January 2022 near Laayoune, in the Saguia el Hamra region of Western Sahara, and was purchased from the finder by Aziz Habibi. It was classified by A. Irving at the University of Washington and P. Carpenter at Washington University in St. Louis, and published in the Meteoritical Bulletin, MB 111. The Bulletin records the main mass with A. Habibi.
This 316.21 gram complete individual was acquired by Treasure Coast Meteorite Co. and offered as a classified specimen. It is not the main mass and is not the type specimen.
